Update the tracking interval:
Your tracker has to be configured for 5 minutes tracking intervals.
For the setup of the configuration you need this software:
https://www.findmespot.eu/gm/index.php?cid=225
(go to Spot Gen3 tab)
Mounting the tracker
It is important, that you mount your tracker with a free view to the sky. Don’t cover the tracker with anything.
Batteries for the tracker
It will not be easy to find Lithium batteries on the route. One set of batteries will work for about 10 days. With the rider information form, you have the ability to order Lithium batteries.
The tracker works also with Alkali batteries, but they are much faster empty.
Powering the tracker over USB
It’s possible to power the SpotGen3 tracker over USB. It will not charge the batteries but while USB power is connected, no battery power is used. Anyway, it’s not recommended to attach a USB cable to the tracker on your bike. One rider powered the tracker in the NorthCape-Tarifa over USB all time and the USB plug got loose and did not work anymore after a while. But it could be a workaround in an emergency situation when the batteries are empty.
