Bike
In the whole of Morocco, you will have problems finding spare parts for 27.5″ or 29″ wheels.
To repair an electronic shifting would be even more difficult.
You find a workshop where they fix cars and can do welding in almost every village. On certain days a week is a market in a town, where you find any kind of stuff. It’s possible to find 700C or 26″ tyres and tubes. In rural areas, motorbikes or cyclists often carry a good pump with them.
Lights
No lights, no ride in the dark.
Brakes
Brakes on this route are not to underestimate!
The route has some steep descents, especially in Spain.
Tires
I can’t give any advice about tires, bikes and so. I don’t know your preferences.
For the piste route in 2018 personally used a WTB ByWay 650B 47mm tire for riding the whole route. In 2019 the Teravail Cannonball Light 650B 47mm and in 2021 the Teravail Sparwood light 27.5″ x 2.1″. Some like being more comfortable and don’t care about the speed, some prefer a faster tire.
Service for your bike
Head over to Morocco with a bike all is okay. You will not find spare parts you need in Morocco. If you need some service on your bike, do it in Spain and not in Morocco. Repack Bicycle in Tarifa is a good address for it. Best contact Jaime Soriano in advance.
